a heartfelt documentary project by Regan L. Rouse &
Fornever Productions.
Our goal is to shift the perceptions and conversations around postpartum mental health, ultimately making it possible for people to ask for help, receive effective care, and explore their experiences with others.
At its core it is a compelling look at the postpartum experience. Regan Rouse, a photographer and mother with firsthand experience with postpartum anxiety, uses emotive photography, and incisive storytelling to explore the complexities of matrescence.
“My own experience with postpartum anxiety gave me insight into how little we understand about perinatal mood disorders, and how little research exists. The stigma around this topic leaves countless members of the family without a sense of awareness, community, or viable resources.”
Expanding beyond interviews, "After Birth" encompasses a broader scope. It serves as an informational network, offering an array of resources – from in-depth blogs, to educational materials, and links to resources. These elements work in concert to provide a holistic view of postpartum health. We aim to support and educate new parents and connect with healthcare professionals.
For now, most of our resources are local to Denver, however all of them can be explored digitally and accessed remotely.
